Privacy policy

This privacy policy explains what personal data we collect on the podcasts.politiq.ch website and how we handle it. It complies with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Principles

We deliberately refrain from:

  • Analytics and tracking — No Google Analytics, no Matomo, no comparable services.
  • Third-party cookies — This website sets no third-party cookies.
  • Social-media tracking — No embedded social-media buttons with tracking function.

3. Data collected

3.1 Server log files

When you visit this website, the hosting provider stores technical data in server log files:

  • IP address (anonymised)
  • Date and time of access
  • Page accessed (URL)
  • Referrer URL
  • Browser and operating system used

These data serve exclusively to ensure technical operation and to detect attacks. They are not merged with other data sources and are automatically deleted after 14 days.

3.2 Comment system (Artalk)

For the comment function we use Artalk, a self-hosted open-source comment system. When using the comment function the following data are collected:

  • Name (freely chosen)
  • E-mail address (optional, not publicly displayed)
  • Comment text
  • IP address and timestamp

All comment data are stored on our own server (Hetzner data centre in Germany). No transfer to third parties takes place. All comments are reviewed manually before publication (moderation). Further information in our community guidelines.

4. Cookies

This website uses no own cookies and no third-party cookies. No tracking cookies are set.

5. Embedded YouTube videos

Episode pages contain embedded YouTube videos. We use the privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), in which YouTube, according to its own statement, does not set cookies until the video is actively played.

6. Hosting

This website is hosted on a Hetzner Online server in Germany. Hetzner is a European hosting provider with data centres in Germany and Finland.

Data processing: a data-processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Hetzner.

7. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. An encrypted connection is recognisable by the address bar of the browser switching from “http://” to “https://”.

  • Right to rectification — You can request the correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — You can request the deletion of your data.
